Brass Care 101

Brass is a metal alloy mostly made from copper and zinc. Over time, it naturally darkens and develops a soft patina (especially with contact from skin oils or fur). To restore its original shine, simply polish with a soft cloth and a gentle brass cleaner.

This tag is designed to complement, not match, our collar hardware. Hanging tags come with a brass split ring that matches the tag itself, a deliberate choice for soft contrast and a clean finish. Petite by design, the tags are intentionally small, quiet and cat-friendly.

We use our best judgement for text placement and size for legibility. If you have a specific requirement, please let us know in the order notes at checkout.

ID Tag FAQs

What can I have engraved on the tag?

Up to 12 characters per line, front and back on the hanging tags. Our slide tag takes 3 lines on the front.

Most customers include their cat's name and a phone number or two, but you may like to include additional information such as "indoor cat", "microchipped" or note a medical condition, like epileptic or diabetic.

Will the brass tarnish over time?

Yes. Brass develops a patina as it ages, the same way an old door handle does. A brass cleaner brings the shine back if you'd rather it stayed bright.

Does it come with a way to attach it to the collar?

Yes, every hanging tag comes with its own split ring, ready to attach to the collar loop.

The slide tag doesn't need a split ring as it threads straight onto the collar.

How does the slide tag go on?

Thread your cat's collar through the slots at each end. It fits flat against the collar, so there is nothing to swing or jingle.

Behind the brand

Atlas was my soul cat, the one who started it all. When we lost him in 2023, I wanted to create something that kept a little piece of him with me.

Why we chose leather

We chose full-grain leather because cats deserve materials that feel good against their skin. It softens into something your cat barely notices is there.

Vet-approved buckle

A collar should stay on until the moment it shouldn't. Our breakaway buckle is designed to release under pressure and has been vet-approved for use on cats.
